Vic Reeves - I Will Cure You

You wouldn't let it lie.
Ooh, Vic I've fallen.
What's on the end of the stick, Vic?
Action! Image! Exchange!
Hiyaaaa! Hiyaaaa, everyone! Hiyaaaa, Vic!
I know doctors, dentists and architects.
You're wasting your time.
You lying get! No, you lying get!
Smell to get well. Wine... Cheese...
Reeves, you workshy fop.
I don't stock Curly Wurlies as I find them far too elaborate.
You've infected me, Reeves.
La-aaaarrrrrrr-------d.
It's all thanks to my mate Terry.
Oooh, Mister Vic.
Look at the size of that sausage!
Marzipan's a private matter!
Spin spin spin the Wheel of Justice - see how fast the bastard turns.

I like watches, I like woods.
He likes various consumer goods.

I once purchased a video recorder - interestingly enough, supplied by mail order.
Terrible man! Terrible man! Terrible terrible terrible man!

Vic, it's a gooseberry - it's me worse nightmare!
As we all know - Les has a phobia of chives.
Oh no! What am I saying?! My wife's gonna kill me!
I was completely in the daaaaarrrk.
Very poor.

Oh yes, those were the days, my friend. The days of Vic Reeves' Big Night Out. It was the new beginning for British comedy. I was totally into it and with it. And it made me the guy I am today. Or rather made me the guy I was. Thankyou Vic and Bob.

Here it is - Vic Reeves' über classik werks - or whatever. I always loved this album since it first came out in 1991 and I'm listening to it now and practically orgasming (is that word? it is now) over it. Is there any comedy performer out there of the calibur to be able to be a comedy genius and also make a decent album? I can think of two - and they both herald from the golden 90s when British comedy reigned supreme: Vic Reeves with this one here and Steve Coogan with his hugely under-rated Tony Ferrino phase. Every track on here is worthy of your time - from the Big Night Out theme tune to Vic and the Wonder Stuff's brilliant chart-topping cover of "Dizzy" (I saw Vic and Bob perform this live... to a backing track!), the jazzy "Oh! Mr Songwriter" to the rocktastic "Oh! Mr Hairdresser", the superb easy listening number "I Remember Punk Rock" (featuring Jonathan Ross on whistling duties), Tinker's Rucksack's anthemic "Summer of '75" ("I was your husband - And I was your wife"... But it's not all walking...), the hymntastically thumping raved-up religious choice "Abide With Me" (produced by The Grid, no less), the OAP's favourite "Meals On Wheels" ("Mr. Savile's waiting for his muesli..."), hit single "Born Free", the New Romantic brassband tribute "Sing Hi! The New Romantic", the rocktastic Human League-style cover of Deep Purple's "Black Night" (actually produced by legendary Human Leaguer Phil Oakey), "Empty Kennel" (I think Vic performed this live with a dodgy looking fox puppet) and many more. Well, not really, I've basically listed them all. No... a monetary deposit. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
